The biennial Kate Derum and Irene Davies International Tapestry Awards celebrate creativity and excellence in contemporary tapestry. Held by the Australian Tapestry Workshop, artists from around the world are invited to submit small-scale hand-woven tapestries that reflect an expressive use of tapestry through materials, concept, colour and design.

All awards are non-acquisitive. All awards are in Australian Dollars. Generously supported by Susan Morgan, the Kate Derum Award honours Kate Derum and her significant contribution to tapestry as an artist, weaver, teacher, mentor and former Deputy Director/Studio Manager of the ATW. The Irene Davies Emerging Artist Award was established to support students and early career weavers in their first 5 years of tapestry practice, generously supported by Alayne and Alan Davies in memory of their mother Irene Davies, a tapestry enthusiast and avid support of the ATW.

ENTRY CONDITIONS
Entries must be hand woven, weft faced tapestries.
Tapestries can be woven on any type of loom.
Tapestry dimensions must not exceed
40cm high x 40cm wide x 3cm deep.
Tapestries must have been made within the last 2 years (since April 2022).
Entries are online via the ATW website.

ENTRY FORM REQUIREMENTS
1. Complete the online entry form on this page. In order to be eligible applicants must submit their entry via this online portal by Monday 13 May 2024 at 5pm AEST.
2. In this form provide a brief biography about yourself and your artistic practice (max 200 words).
3. In this form provide a brief description of the concept behind your tapestry (max 200 words).
4. In this form outline any material and construction considerations undertaken in the creation of your tapestry (max 200 words).
5. Upload a one page CV (PDF).
6. Upload 3 images of the actual work being submitted (a full view and two up close details of two different areas of your tapestry, JPEG, no larger than 1MB each).
