WORKSHOP | Introduction to Tapestry Weaving

Image icon Introduction to Tapestry.jpg
Saturday, November 22, 2025 to Sunday, November 23, 2025

Immerse yourself in a two-day weekend workshop at the ATW, designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of tapestry weaving. Working with the weft-faced French Gobelin technique, you’ll learn how to warp your own loom and weave simple shapes and lines, while exploring colour, pattern, and texture. A light afternoon tea will be provided.

This workshop is led by Senior ATW weaver Tim Gresham. Tim's tapestry practice spans more than 30 years and combines his deep interest in photography with a fascination for rhythmical pattern and colour. His work has been widely exhibited across Australia, including solo shows at Craft Victoria and Craft ACT, and major exhibitions such as the Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award and the Cicely and Colin Rigg Contemporary Design Award. His upcoming solo exhibition Perpetual, over a decade in the making, opens at Ararat Gallery TAMA in October 2025.
