2019 ATW Artist in Residence Program

APPLICATIONS OPEN

One of the ATW’s key interests is creative collaboration, and it is in this spirit that the Artist in Residence (AIR) program has been developed. The purpose of the residency is to encourage a rich cultural exchange between contemporary artists and ATW weavers. The AIR program invites artists to immerse themselves in the unique studio environment of the ATW.

  • Artists can be part of the ATW for between 2 to a maximum of 8 weeks, full or part-time, from January – December 2019.
  • Artists working in any medium - not just the visual arts or textile-based practice - and at any stage of their career can undertake a residency.
  • Artists will be given a working space at the ATW, reasonable use and access to ATW yarn and equipment, and will be paid to deliver a public talk at the ATW about their practice
  • Artists will have the opportunity to exhibit at ATW the following year as part of the annual AIR exhibition.
  • Interstate and international artists are welcome to apply, however ATW cannot offer accommodation or financial support for successful applicants.
  • The number of artists selected is usually 8 - 10, depending on the quality of applications and length of residencies.
