Congratulations to ATW Masters Weavers Chris Cochius, Pamela Joyce, Jennifer Sharpe and Cheryl Thornton who have recently completed the impressive tapestry Treasure Hunt, designed by renowned artist Guan Wei.

The completed tapestry measures 3.5 metres by 0.864 metres, and took our team of weavers 1230 hours to complete.

The design for this tapestry is inspired by a large painted mural from Guan Wei's solo exhibition Other Histories at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney in 2006. Treasure Hunt reflects upon Indigenous and colonial culture, as well as cultural diversity. Through depictions of oceans, islands and desert interiors, Guan Wei references navigation, exploration, migration and the influence of and response to globalisation.
