Join us for an Artist Talk with Kayla Powers Wednesday, August 27, 5pm AEST.
ATW’s current International Artist in Residence, Kayla Powers, presented an online artist talk on Wednesday, August 27 at 5:00 PM AEST.
Kayla Powers is an artist and naturalist whose textile practice is grounded in place, ecology, and tradition. Through techniques like natural dyeing, foraging, weaving, and hand-stitching, Powers creates work that explores the interconnections between craft, environment, and between each other.
Join us for a thoughtful conversation on materiality, sustainability, and the role of the handmade in contemporary art.
The International Residency is generously supported by the Tapestry Foundation of Australia through the Hancock Fellowship, and our accommodation partners, David and Patricia Wallage.
