Patrick Mung Mung is a senior artist at Warmun Art Centre and an elder in the Warmun Community in the East Kimberley. Painting with natural pigments on canvas is a significant aspect of his art practice. His knowledge of his country and his cultural memory of family, land and work are powerful influences in his work.
Mung Mung has exhibited throughout Australia and internationally and has work in collections including NGV, Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Murdoch University Collection.
This tapestry is the seventh in the series commissioned by the Tapestry Foundation of Australia, all based on the designs of Indigenous artists and loaned to selected Australian Embassy's throughout the world. The Foundation fundraises extensively for these tapestries, using this opportunity to developing meaningful relationships with the private sector, individuals and philanthropic groups. These tapestries celebrate the skill of the Workshops weavers, the strength and diversity of Australian Indigenous art and the philanthropic vision of the Tapestry Foundation.
