Kunawarritji to Wajaparni

Artists: Peter Tinker, Jeffrey James, Charlie Wallabi Tjungurrayi, Patrick Tjungurrayi, Richard Yukenbarri Tjakamarra, Helicopter Tjungurrayi, Putuparri Tom Lawford and Clifford Brooks

This tapestry is based on a collaborative painting by 8 Indigenous men from regions around the Canning Stock Route. The Canning Stock Route Collection was acquired by the National Museum of Australia in 2008. This collection of works are the culmination of many years of research by FORM, a not for profit organisation developing independent creative projects across Western Australia. The Canning Stock Route, running almost 2,000 km across Western Australia, marks an intersection of Indigenous and non-indigenous histories.

This tapestry, commissioned by the Tapestry Foundation of Australia, is now on loan to the Australian Embassy to the Holy See.
